Daughter Work Defention:
A daughter church, in accordance with the UPCI Manual, is a congregation which has met at least three months, is the result of the concerted efforts of an established mother church to plant a new congregation, holds at least one service per week apart from the mother church, and is under the general oversight of the pastor of the mother church. The stated intention of a daughter church is to plant a new church that will eventually become a self-governing church.
By applying for a Daughter Work, you are agreeing to begin services at this desginated location within 6 months of this application.
Please Note:
District Board approval to begin a daughter work will lapse if the new church or daughter work is not begun within 6 months after Board approval. If the home mission church or daughter work is not begun within 6 months, the minister receiving the initial approval may approach the Home Missions Executive Committee and ask for a 6-month extension. It is to be generally understood that only one 6-month extension shall be granted. Once the initial 6-month period, or any approved extended period lapses, the approval is withdrawn. A daughter work shall be considered to have begun once they start holding a regular weekly service.
